School Counsellor

  • To provide professional and confidential counselling services to the KISC pupils/students.
  • Alongside this the School Counsellor will provide staff with advice and support and play a significant role in the pastoral framework of KISC Group of Schools.
  • He/she will report directly to the Chief Learning Officer, but work closely with the Heads of Schools

Main Duties:

  1. Collaboratively improve and implement the existing Comprehensive School Counseling Policy with the Heads of schools
  2. Develop and maintain a written plan for effective delivery of the school counseling program based on best practice approaches and in line with the school’s
  3. To provide an independent and confidential counselling service to pupils and staff at Kitengela International School, through individual sessions, responding to their personal, social, emotional or educational concerns

  5. To maintain confidentiality (except in those circumstances, in line with Kitengela Intl’ School practice, where this should be breached)
  6. Accurately and appropriately use assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual and group counseling
  7. Consult the Heads of School if there is the need to invite an external service provider for the whole school, or for pupils, or for members of
  8. To make referrals, where appropriate
  9. To be alert to trends and patterns of problems and to be willing to identify causes and recommend corrective action
  10. To play an active role in safeguarding children and adhere fully to the Kitengela Intl’ school policies, especially the Safeguarding and Child Protection

Qualifications:

  1. Between 3-5 years of experience in institutional counselling

Key responsibilities for this position include:

What you need to possess 

Skills and Qualifications required:

  1. Diploma or certificate in Science Laboratory Technology in Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized institution.
  2. You possess at least 3 years of working experience in a recognized secondary school or equivalent institution.
  3. You are able to prepare students’ practical work up to 8-4-4 level with minimum supervision.

Reporting to the CEO and the Board, the successful candidate will be responsible for the timely execution of risk-based internal audits in accordance with the annual audit plan, as well as assisting with other matters and projects.

  1. School Bursar

Under the supervision of the CFO, s/he will manage receipting, student financial services, and centralized accounts receivable systems for the school. S/he will manage and coordinate the activities of staff engaged in keeping complete books of tuition fees and other receipts for the schools.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Custody and maintenance of books of accounts and accountable documents;
  • Ensure proper fees records are kept at all times and requisite meal receipts etc are issued correctly.
  • Ensuring a proper paper trail for each transaction is kept Developing management mechanism of school’s resources & statutory compliance.
  • Planning and evaluating cost reduction measures Managing, evaluating, accounting systems for the school Constant check on possible fraud and errors;

 9. School Matron / Cateress

The successful candidate will be in charge of housekeeping and ensuring the welfare of the pupils/students in the dormitories is well maintained according to the schools standards

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To ensure that there is a clean and pleasant environment in the School throughout which involves line managing and directing cleaners both inside and outside the school
  • Be a major source of awareness of student’s behavior and be ready to alert the Administration regarding areas of concern
  • Organize and attend some school social events
  • Monitor the students’ daily routines (including punctuality, meal attendance, diet etc), and work with the boarding mistress/master to help pupils meet expected school

  1. Stores In charge

The Store Keeper will be responsible for receipting and issuance of stock items, keying in the same in the company’s stores system and ensure proper documentation and filing of all records under the stores section. The storekeeper will operate in an efficient & effective manner, according to the company policies and procedures.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Receipts and issuance of stock items ensuring proper documentation of the same and the overall administration of the company’s store management system
  • In liaison with the Store in charge, determine and implement stock codes and vocabulary.
  • Facilitate and raise stocks requisition for all school’s requirements.
  • Determines the stock levels to ensure no over stocking or under stocking of materials.
  • Ensure goods and materials are checked before receipt, confirmation of quantities and quality for coding and storage.
  • Ensure storage security while ensuring correct material and goods handling, storage and movement.
  • Ensure that the stores areas are kept clean and tidy and all items in stock are orderly kept.
  • Ensure goods and materials allocation and distribution in relation to requisitions.

Minimum Requirements, Qualification and Key Skills

  • Diploma in purchasing & supplies or related course.
  • Computer usage certification.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in stores management
  • Strong analytical skills, Ability to work under minimum supervision. Integrity is a key factor for this position.

11.  School Librarian

The school librarian is responsible for managing the school library. S/he will create a collaborative environment for students; that nurtures critical thinking and creative problem solving. The school librarian will ensure that pupils and staff are effective users of the library.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research and select library materials.
  • Facilitate student’s access to library materials by ensuring prompt opening and closure of the library.
  • Catalogue, classify and maintain library materials.
  • Manage students in the library to meet their needs.
  • Analyze student’s needs to determine what books are appropriate.
  • Search and provide books for students.
  • Ensure entry of data and regular update of entries into the library system.
  • Return books to shelves.
  • Repair damaged books and maintain catalogue.
  • Induction of new students, providing comprehensive reference and information on library services
  • Prepare budgetary information and reports.

 

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Library or Information studies or its equivalent or any other related field from a recognized institution
  • At least 3 years’ experience performing library services preferably in a school setup

  1. Fleet Manager

Reporting to the CFO and the CEO, the job holder will be managing the profitability of the School’s transport department through sound management by analyzing the School’s fleet profitability per vehicle; maintaining and managing Key Performance Indicators in the transport department consisting of safety records, kilometers travelled against the fuel consumed and the vehicles availability for scheduled picking and dropping of pupils, fleet maintenance, statutory compliance, staff training etc.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the recruitment of quality drivers in the School’s transport department.
  • Developing efficient driver schedules.
  • Managing drivers so that they adhere to strict schedules whilst instilling the rules of safety and security in drivers.
  • Ensuring that all school vehicles are properly registered, licensed and comply with statutory requirements
  • Ensure that the School fleet is maintained to the level that meets more than statutory requirements.
  • Maintaining detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection, ensuring that all school buses and vans are serviced and inspections are done on time

  • Manage the fleet of vehicles to ensure Zero accidents, fuel efficiency and proper general maintenance.
  • Maintain all reports and documentation required or requested by the department head.

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma in Logistics and Transport Management or any related field
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing large fleets / logistics preferably in a school.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications
  • At least 2 years driving experience with a valid driving license

13. Mechanic

The purpose for the position is to perform maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on school buses and vans in a safe and efficient manner to facilitate timely picking and dropping of pupils to and from school.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform repair work on school buses and vans such as breakdowns, malfunctions and emergency roadside repair in a safe, efficient, and quality manner.
  • Perform operation test prior to repairs to verify complaint
  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturer’s specifications including engines, transmissions and clutches, suspension and steering, fuel and ignition, electrical systems, brakes, and HVAC systems
  • Follow paper-flow procedures including documenting correct mileage/hours, save and tag all warranty and core parts, document all repairs on work order using complaint, cause, and correction format.
  • Perform final operational test on all vehicles to quality-check all repairs
  • Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on school buses and vans such as fluid changes, lubrications, safety inspections, and brake repairs to maximize the safety, productivity, and life of the unit.
  • Examine vehicle to determine if any additional safety or repair work is required.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Have at least 5 year’s relevant experience in a busy motor vehicle garage/ workshop
  • Diploma or equivalent in Automotive Engineering or any related field
  • A Certificate of good conduct.
  • Valid driver’s license with minimum class ABCE
